What is the difference between a shut-off and a non shut-off impulse wrench?

A shut-off impulse wrench cuts the air automatically when torque is reached: the cycle is shorter and the operator knows when the tightening is finished. A non shut-off wrench achieves the highest clamp force with the smallest tolerance when tightening ends on the flat part of the torque curve. Yokota recommends using shut-off models up to 95% of the range on hard joints and 85% on soft joints, and non shut-off models up to 100% and 90%.

What is the Yokota Poka Yoke system?

Poka Yoke+ is Yokota's system for the YLa-JQ and Y-JQ series with the YTC-3 controller: it measures the motor air pressure to detect bolt contact, controls the shut-off, counts OK tightenings per group, detects double tightening and interlocks with the assembly line. The standard YLT and YLa series do not use this controller.

An impulse wrench transmits power through oil pressure: a patented twin-blade mechanism delivers 10 to 40 impulses per second, reaches torque in a split second and passes virtually no reaction to the operator, who can hold the tool with one hand. The result is less noise, less vibration and high repeatability on both hard and soft joints.

Two ways of working

With Poka Yoke system: YLa-JQ and Y-JQ series with YTC-3 controller, which controls the shut-off, counts OK tightenings per group and detects double tightening.
Without Poka Yoke system: YLT series with mechanical shut-off, which cuts the air when torque is reached, and YLa non shut-off series, which achieves the highest clamp force with the smallest tolerance.

How to choose the model

Shut-off: up to 95% of the range on hard joints and 85% on soft joints
Non shut-off: up to 100% of the range on hard joints and 90% on soft joints
Yokota recommends working up to 80% of capacity for the best productivity and durability
Use sleeve drive impact sockets and a stable 0.6 MPa air pressure
